Welcome to our website. We are a husband and wife team, Philip and Rosemary, and our passion for paintings inspired us to create Elford Fine Art more than 20 years ago after award-winning careers in television and radio.

We specialise in British and Continental oil paintings, watercolours and drawings by distinguished artists from the 19th and early 20th centuries and represent a select number of highly talented contemporary painters. We offer you a friendly, personal and informative service, whether you are an established collector or wishing to make your first purchase.

We are based in the South West of England and have a keen eye for paintings that celebrate the outstanding natural beauty and history of Cornwall and Devon and record fascinating snapshots of everyday life from past to present.

The South West has been a haven for generations of painters. Attracted by the clarity of light and stunning coasts and landscapes, they found fame and recognition here and endowed the region with a rich artistic heritage, which we can all enjoy today.

Our collection of Cornish art features paintings from the world-renowned Newlyn School, established in the 1880s, and other celebrated art colonies just along the coast at Lamorna and St. Ives.

Landscapes of Devon include dramatic Dartmoor and we are never without a painting by one or both of the famous father and son artists, William and Frederick John Widgery. Travelling to remote areas of the moor from their homes in Lydford and Exeter, they captured the wild expanses of Dartmoor in all its moods.

We are renowned for the quality, condition and interest of our paintings. We love to research the lives of talented artists; explore the stories behind their popularity; and discover the finest examples of their work. Handed down from generation to generation, these wonderful pictures represent craftsmanship and quality at their very best. They are a joy to own and can be admired and appreciated day after day, enhancing contemporary interiors and period homes alike.
