In a rich burr walnut veneer, with a geometric border design and brass cartouche and escutcheon to the lid and front, the latter complete with a working key. The original interior features a pen recess, nib and stamp compartments and a gilt-tooled green leather writing surface, both ends of which lift to reveal storage below.
