An accomplished watercolour painter, who specialised in landscapes and coastal scenes, Adderton studied at Scarborough School of Art and exhibited at the principal galleries throughout Britain, including The Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and The Royal Society of British Artists. He lived in Nottingham for many years and exhibited 226 works at Nottingham Museum and Art Gallery.
