Sydney Percy Kendrick studied art in Paris before he settled in London to become a professional painter of society portraits and genre scenes. His subjects included Dame Sybil Thorndike and his portrait of the celebrated actress ensured his continuing popularity. Kendrick exhibited his work at The Royal Academy.
