This self-taught artist specialised in coastal, marine, landscape and moorland scenes of Devon and Cornwall, painted in both oils and watercolours. The Plymouth waterfront was a favourite location and, although Jenkins lived not far away at Plympton, he would often take up residence for a short time at Plymouth’s historic port, The Barbican, paying for his lodgings with paintings. Jenkins exhibited at The Society of Western Artists, Plymouth Arts Club and The Royal Western Academy in Bristol and, like many of his contemporaries, also took part in the annual “Pictures of the Westcountry” exhibitions in Exeter.
