Reginald Sherrin was born near Whitstable, Kent, the son of Daniel Sherrin, a painter of landscapes, marines and river scenes, and the grandson of the flower and still life artist, John Sherrin, RI. Reginald settled in Devon, where he specialised in painting moorland and coastal scenes. With a ready market for his work, he sold his pictures easily, without the need to exhibit.
