Douglas Pinder, who lived for many years at Horrabridge near Tavistock, painted moorland landscapes and coastal scenes, mainly in watercolours. He showed paintings at the “Pictures of The Westcountry by Devon Artists” exhibitions, which were a regular feature in the art calendar in the early part of the 20th Century. He also painted under the pseudonyms Ben Graham and A. P. Shepherd. and travelled to Egypt, where he painted Arabian and desert scenes.
